Designing WEEE collection system in Singapore

Around 60,000 tonnes of electronic and electrical waste have been thrown out from homes and companies in Singapore every year. With many years of successful recycling collection in other markets, ALBA Group looked into bidding to become Singapore's first Producer Responsibility Scheme (PRS) Operator for e-waste collection.
This case study explains how ALBA used the Waste Labs AI Platform to design the e-waste collection system and win the 5-year contract with Singapore Government.
ALBA Group has been appointed as the PRS Operator for e-waste collection since 1 July 2021.

Plastic waste mapping in Hong Kong

There is a massive drive to reduce plastic waste originating from consumer goods packaging worldwide. Over 5 million drinking bottles are consumed in Hong Kong every day. This waste is scattered unevenly throughout the country, and there is no reliable data to identify the most prominent producers to collect this waste from.
ALBA Group entered into a joint venture (JV) with Swire Coca-Cola and Baguio Waste Management & Recycling in Hong Kong to launch a new recycling plant. The plant will annually process 35’000 tonnes of soft drink bottles and other plastic containers that contain polyethylene terephthalate (PET).
In this case study, we explain how ALBA Group used the Waste Labs platform to identify the source of PET and HDPE waste to collect and recycle in Hong Kong.

Location planning for cardboard waste collection in Hong Kong

Beverage cartons, primarily produced by Tetra Pak, are one of the largest waste streams in Hong Kong. However, only 2% of these cartons are recycled in Hong Kong.
Together with one of the leading Hong Kong beverage companies and a major drink carton waste producer, ALBA Group looked into reducing the pressure on landfills by increasing the collection of items that can be recycled and preventing beverage carton waste from ending up in landfills.
The critical problem of sustainable management in Hong Kong is the lack of waste separation at the source. Before collecting their recyclable items, ALBA and their client faced the challenge of analysing and detecting the highest-potential locations to install tetra-packs collection points.

Municipal waste collection resource and route planning in Singapore

In 2021, ALBA WH was awarded a 7-year public waste collection contract
for the Woodlands-Yishun sector in Singapore. ALBA WH needs to collect refuse and recyclable waste from over 260,000 premises, including households, commercial and industrial facilities.
This case study explains how ALBA WH used the Waste Labs AI Platform to develop the waste collection master plan, including resource and route plans for this project.
